SouthernCross programs and patient care management practices
are governed by an extensive set of medical protocols that
meet or exceed the minimum standard guidelines published by
the American Heart Association (AHA), Department of Transportation
(DOT), and Texas Department of Health (TDH). All clinical
care employees are required to be tested through a practical
examination to ensure they have current understanding of SouthernCross
Standards of (patient) Care management and can adequately
apply all the principals to any patient care scenario(s).
SouthernCross Standards of (patient) Care provide employees
with the necessary guidelines to provide first, second, and,
frequently, third line treatment interventions on unstable
and potentially unstable patients encountered. All employees
are required to strictly adhere to all protocols thus standardizing
and optimizing patient care management.
The Standards of Patient Care are made available to all employees
at each station and on each vehicle as required by the Texas
Department of Health. They are signed and approved by the
SouthernCross Medical Director and Administration and are
reviewed on an annual basis.
