In January of 2000, SouthernCross Ambulance, Inc. opened its first ever "Training Academy"; a Texas Department of Health (TDH) approved Continuing Education (CEU) training program aimed at increasing medical awareness and ensuring protocol familiarity among all SCA employees. The SCA Training Academy offers a wide array of training programs and services to SCA employees - programs and services ranging from monthly in-services to CEU publications and periodicals. The SCA Training Academy also hosts in-services and training programs for the community ranging from Basic First Aid to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the Heimlich Maneuver. Additional presentations currently available are listed below.

- Advanced Airway Management: Introduction to Rapid Sequence Intubation and
- Surgical/Needle Cricothyrotomy
- Basic Shock Management: Introduction to IV catheterization and fluid therapy
- Common Geriatric Emergencies
- The Effects of Aging on the Body
- Out-of-Hospital Do-Not-Resuscitate Orders (OOHDNR)
- Medical/Legal Aspects of Patient Care
- Ensuring Safety in the Workplace
- Pitfalls of Medical Documentation Practices
- Managing Bio-Hazardous Materials/Infection Control Practices
Facilities and organizations serviced are also given the opportunity to choose one of many additional continuing education topics available for presentation. A personalized presentation on the topic chosen is then developed and presented accordingly. As an American Heart Association (AHA) approved CPR and ACLS Training Site and through the development and utilization of its extensive TDH approved CEU program, SCA can assist in the fight against heart disease thereby promoting healthier lifestyles thus decreasing morbidity and mortality in the community.

SouthernCross Ambulance offers emergent and non-emergent ambulance transportation services for the sick and injured in those communities served.
Staffed with a minimum of one Texas certified EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic and one EMT-Basic, SCA is able to provide quality and competent local and long-distance Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), and Mobile Intensive Care (MICU) ambulance transportation to and from all medical facilities; including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, clinics, nursing homes, and skilled-nursing centers within the Central and South Texas region. In select areas, SouthernCross functions as either the primary 911 or backup 911-Ambulance provider.
